Artist Statement 
 
My paintings are about people. Each person’s individuality is a key to my artwork. Through my artwork, I seek to delineate, render, and communicate the essence, culture, and occupation of a person and people and / or my relationship with that person. I work using various mediums, such as oil on canvas, acrylics, watercolor, and collage. Sometimes, I take photos of a person or scene and use that as reference. I use color to depict realism, expressionism, and to depict physiognomy. I seek to create representation that champion each subject’s countenance. In addition, my work allows room for stylistic variety that best represents the individuality of each person. No two people are the same, and the stylistic variations in my work mirror that idea.
